After months spent leaning into smelling like sunshine and sunscreen wearing Vacation’s VACATION and Diptyque’s Ilio, as the end of summer nears, we’ve been thinking about how much we love fall fragrances. Admittedly, we can’t get enough of vanilla fragrances, but it wouldn’t be an autumn perfume round up without a gourmand bias.

Here are 9 of our favorite fall fragrances for the forthcoming season.

Diptyque Eau Duelle Eau de Parfum

Perfume TikToker Caroline Stern coined the term “Hotel Lobby Vanilla” to describe a category of beautiful vanilla scents that are elegant and not too sweet – emulating the vibe of a hotel lobby. Citing herself as “an expert in vanilla,” we discovered Diptyque’s Eau Duelle through her recommendations.

Liis Fragrances Of True Minds

Focused on formulas without preservatives, dyes, phthalates, sulfates, the California fragrance house makes cruelty-free, vegan, and allergy-tested. Currently unreleased, Liis is launching their new fall scent called Of True Minds in early September, which is inspired by Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116. With top notes of amaretto and nutmeg; a heart of suede, orris, and benzoin; and a base of golden patchouli and labdanum, the scent is described as deep, intense, and exquisite.

D.S. & Durga Deep Dark Vanilla

It doesn’t get better than D.S. & Durga’s Deep Dark Vanilla. Not at all sugary, the vanilla absolute in this is captivatingly rich and smoky. Its vanilla notes are incredible, in a way synthetic vanilla can’t match.

Byredo Velvet Haze

Byredo’s Velvet Haze can be described as intense and woody. It’s made of ambrette, coconut water, patchouli leaves, cocoa absolu, and wild musk – the perfect fall combination. For another Byredo option, we also love Vanille Antique.

Sana Jardin Vanilla Nomad

Sana Jardin Vanilla Nomad may be the ultimate fall scent. Benzoin (known to help support spiritual development and assist meditation practice), sandalwood, and Moroccan jasmine make for a beautiful combination. The brand also works closely with female harvesters in Morocco and provide them with opportunities for economic independence through entrepreneurial programs.

Régime des Fleurs Little Flower

Cult fragrance house Régime des Fleurs is truly in a league of their own. Their niche scent, Tears, is literally inspired by ‘crying, and the smell of heartbreak’. While Rock River Melody is an Alexa Chung favorite, we’ve gravitated towards their scent made in collaboration with Chloë
Sevigny called Little Flower – her take on the rose.

DedCool Xtra Milk

While you might still be loving sticking to Glossier You, DedCool’s version of a skin scent is Xtra Milk. It has a mix of amber, bergamot, and white Musk, which make it perfect for fall.

Malin + Goetz Leather

When we think fall fragrances, we naturally think leather. Malin + Goetz created a perfume to capture the texture and scent through muted florals and rustic wood notes, with a wear that gets better with time.

Plur Vanilla Skin Body & Hair Mist

Described as a “multidimensional take on an intoxicating sensual gourmand,” we genuinely cannot count the amount of times Plur’s Vanilla Skin Body & Hair Mist has been posted about on TikTok. You can have this on hand for times you don’t want to use your more expensive perfumes, but still want to smell incredible while at home or running errands. Since it’s only $38 for 8 ounces, you can spray as much as you want without thinking about it.
