The British Fashion Council has announced its nominees for their 2024 award ceremony, including the top models that are up for the Model of The Year Award.
Taking place on December 2nd at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the honor recognizes “the global impact of a model who, over the last 12 months, has dominated the industry, with an influence that transcends the catwalk.” Here are the iconic, individualistic models up for the award:
Alex Consani Makes History
Alex Consani makes history as the first out transgender woman nominated in this category. In August 2019, the model signed with IMG – one of the biggest agencies in the world. Since making her runway debut for Tom Ford in 2021, the 21-year-old has taken the internet by storm with over three million followers on her viral TikTok account. Known online for her goofy videos, she’s has also walked for Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Chloé, Roberto Cavalli, Coperni and Versace and was the face of Jean Paul Gaultier’s collection with London-based brand Knwls. You can also see her in Charli XCX’s music video for the song “360.”
Alva Claire Stands For Body Positivity
London-born Alva Claire has been on the cover star for a variety of major publications, including Perfect Magazine, Vogue Beauty, Elle and office. She has also made fashion history as the first ‘plus-sized’ models to ever walk for Versace. The model uses her voice to help make an impact speaking out about being a ‘curve’ model in an industry with outdated body standards.
Anok Yai Shines Light On South Sudan
Stunning American model Anok Yai is the first top model of South Sudanese descent. Following Naomi Campbell, she is the second black supermodel to open a Prada show. Additionally, she has walked for Versace, Fendi, Burberry and Louis Vuitton and been in ads for Tiffany & Co., Nike and Hood by Air. We’ve also seen her in Travis Scott’s music video for “I KNOW?” and on the covers of Vogue, W, AnOther, Purple, Harper’s Bazaar, i-D, V Magazine, Elle, Document Journal and Dazed. The ethereal 26-year-old is the face of Alien Hypersense by Mugler as well.
Mona Tougaard Is Highly Sought-After
Signed to The Society alongside Kendall Jenner, Mona Tougaard been on multiple international Vogue covers after first being discovered at 12-years-old in Denmark. She has done runway modeling for an extensive list of shows, including Loewe, Fendi, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Miu Miu, Versace, Burberry, Dior, Givenchy, Chloé and Saint Laurent. In SS24 alone, the model walked 22 shows.
Amelia Gray Is A Style Icon
It girl Amelia Gray has established herself as a style icon. Following her runway debut in the Dennis Basso SS18 show, the star quickly become one of the most popular models in the fashion industry. She has been on the cover of Vogue Japan and Harper’s Bazaar France and appeared in campaigns for Vivienne Westwood, Miu Miu, Courreges, H&M, Givenchy and Versace. She is also the daughter of reality TV star Lisa Rinna and was on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Liu Wen Represents China
Regarded as China’s first supermodel, Liu Wen was the first Chinese model to walk in Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She was also the first East Asian spokesmodel for Estée Lauder cosmetics and the second model to ever appear on the cover of American Vogue. The 36-year-old has walked for household designers like Burberry, Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Hermès.
