The Weeknd’s highly anticipated new album came out today, marking the end of an era for the artist. Hurry Up Tomorrow is his sixth studio LP, following 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM. With this release, the Canadian singer bids farewell to his stage name, moving forward under his real name: Abel Tesfaye.
The Album
The first song, “Wake Me Up,” opens with the lines, “All I have is my legacy / I been losing my memory / No afterlife, no other side / I’m all alone when it fades to black.” While he initially expresses disbelief in the afterlife, by the final track, we witness a change of heart.
The album closes with the title track’s chorus, where he sings, “So I see heaven after love / I want heaven when I die / I wanna change I want the pain no more, oh, yeah / No, I need heaven after love / I want heaven when I die / I wanna change / I want the pain no more, no more, no more.” Die-hard fans may recognize that this outro transitions into “High For This,” the opening track from his debut mixtape House of Balloons. As Genius annotations note, it “completes his discography by looping it back to the beginning.”

The musician dropped the first single, “Timeless,” featuring Playboi Carti, followed by “São Paulo” with Anitta. Now, the full 22-track album is out. Features include Italian composer and “Father of Disco” Giorgio Moroder, Travis Scott, Lana Del Rey, Oneohtrix Point Never and more.
The Movie
Tesfaye will star in a psychological thriller based on his new music, only in theaters May 16th. Directed and edited by Trey Edward Shults, the film also includes Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, and debut actor Gabby Barrett.

The Tour
Catch Abel Tesfaye live on the After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour from May to September. Presale starts February 5th, with general sales the next day.
