Celebrity Stylists Have Become Household Names. Here Are The Ones Behind Your Favorite Artists Style.

We're taking a look at some of the celebrity stylists who have helped define some of our favorite artists style.

It wasn’t until recently that celebrity stylists have taken a front seat within our cultural zeitgeist. Mimi Cuttrell, Ariana Grande’s stylist, is a household name in the fashion world. Veneda Carter, notably having worked with Kim Kardashian, is now a personality in her own right. And it’s not often that Zendaya’s style is mentioned without a mention of her stylist, Law Roach. The two have become close throughout their years of working together and have created iconic looks that have defined her career. Recently, celebrity stylists are coming out from behind the curtain and into the spotlight beyond for their work. We’re taking a look at some of the celebrity stylists who have helped define some of our favorite artists style.

Charli xcx Is A Celebrity Stylists Dream

Pop princess Charli xcx is the It-Girl of 2024, with the “Sweat Tour” concluding on October 23. Charli’s signature style is understated when you compare it to typical pop icons like Britney Spears, but is expertly crafted by stylist Chris Horan for her laidback image. Horan opts for more monochromatic yet simplistically edgy looks for the singer, pulling strong pieces from designers like Dilara Findikoglu.

Being able to dance around a Boiler Room set is a must. Horan keeps this in mind when pulling clothes for Charli. See-through panels provide sexiness and movement, and these motifs can be seen both on-stage and off. Her street style incorporates washed denim, baby tees, and tiny glasses; marking the official uniform of Brat Summer. With CAMPERLAB jeans, custom Marni gowns and Ludovic de Saint Sernin afterparty looks, Horan knows how to let Charli shine.

Matthew Henson Helped Elevate Rocky To Icon Status

A$AP Rocky’s stylist, Matthew Henson, told Vogue about working with the rapper: “I’ll gather a few looks from his favorite designers, and he will either wear them like that, or mix them with pieces he already owns.” Henson understands that styling is a collaborative process, and finds it important to allow his client to maintain his own creative freedom. A$AP Rocky already has a strong love for street style and designer brands like Rick Owens, Christian Dior, and Stüssy.

Flacko even has a flair for a good backstory — he had been seen sporting a head scarf out and about, leaving fans wondering why. The rapper responded to the intrigue, telling a story about a scooter accident that left him with a scar. The incident later turned into inspiration for his song “Babushka” (aptly named). Henson builds upon this innate appreciation for clothes, creating memorable moments from these looks. One of my favorite Rocky looks was his 2023 Met Gala Gucci kilt, worn over straight-legged jeans and paired with an edgy, masculine suit jacket.

Spencer Singer Champions Billie Eilish’s Signature Style

Billie Eilish has always been in conversations surrounding her outfit choices since her debut. Her current stylist, Spencer Singer, also works with Lily Rose-Depp and Gracie Abrams. Singer was also the one behind Addison Rae’s styling in her music video for “Diet Pepsi” directed by Sean Prince Williams. Some of the brands he’s pulled from for Billie are Christopher Nemeth, Olly Shinder, Ralph Lauren, Ashley Williams London and Stefan Cooke.

How Fatima Elevated 21 Savage

NYC-based stylist Fatima has been working with A-list celebrities for over a decade. Her first client was Nicki Minaj, and the young stylist crafted the rapper’s image from the very beginning. Now, Fatima styles rappers like The Weeknd, Swae Lee, 21 Savage and many more. She’s the biggest name when it
comes to styling today’s hip hop artists. The stylist credits her success to determination and respect, and she makes sure that her work does not distract from an artist’s work. She knows that individuality coincides with creativity, and she tries to diversify her styling according to each rapper’s aesthetic.

21 Savage’s look has developed into a stylized yet cohesive comfortability, with custom looks from Burberry’s Daniel Lee and off-the-rack from Louis Vuitton. In July, 21 Savage performed wearing a casual yet elevated Nike x Jacquemus white and redlined tracksuit. He’s also been seen wearing Coucou Bebe 75018, an underground and obscure fashion label with a grunge aesthetic. Lots of 21’s contemporaries and many of Fatima’s clients wear the brand to pull off steampunk looks.

Marc Forne and Troye Sivan Are A Dynamic Duo

Troye Sivan joined Charli XCX on stage over the past few months, sporting Y2K looks put together by Marc Forne. The celebrity stylist also works with actor Manu Rios, branching out from his own modeling dreams to putting together looks for other people. Forne told CFDA about Sivan’s ease in his approach to life, and how his music coincides with his personal style: “What’s great about Troye is that you can go in any direction and he elevates the look. From edgy to classy, there’s always a way to make it fresh and suited for him.”

During Men’s Fashion Week SS24, the “Rush” singer debuted a leggy ensemble at Loewe. His long sleeve, pale yellow shirt was complemented only by a chartreuse bag and chelsea-esque boot, leaving many people unsure of the look. This was a great departure from the stylist-singer duo’s past collaborations, as Sivan had recently attended the Milan Fall 2024 menswear shows sporting a different fashion; Forne put the singer in an all-black, layered Prada look.
