The 2023 British Fashion Awards presented by Pandora took place earlier this week at the Royal Albert Hall in London and the stars were out in full force. The awards honored the likes of Jonathan Anderson, Edward Enninful and Charlotte Tilbury, all trailblazers in the world of fashion. And while the awards show happened inside, some stars of the show were made pre-show on the red carpet.
The British Fashion Awards, known for outfits that are often ornate and awe-inspiring, is one of the most glamorous galas of the season – and this years red carpet looks were no exception. Sabrina Elba opted for elegance, Aweng Choul stunned in a grand ensemble, and Suki Waterhouse kept it simple, with a twist.
We’ve rounded up our seven favorite looks from one of fashions biggest red carpets. From Anne Hathaway in Valentino to Anok Yai in Ferragamo, this years looks did not disappoint.
Anne Hathaway in Valentino
Anne Hathaway has had a year of front running looks and the BFA’s were the icing on her year-in-fashion cake. She wore an archival look from Valentino, paired with a diamond necklace and subdued yet stunning lived-in hair.
Aweng Chuol in Vetements
In what may be the most dramatic look of the night, Aweng Chuol wore a long sleeve puffer dress in a metallic silver-y gold with an asymmetric train that screamed “I am the best dressed in the room, and I know it”. She paired the gown with a beautiful jewel toned necklace to round out the look.
Gwendoline Christie in Giles Deacon
Gwendoline Christie is known for her impeccable taste in clothing and this gown was no exception. A custom by Giles Deacon, it is as classic as it is otherworldly. The actress paired the black ensemble with a fresh blond bob and subtle black pumps. Completed with a smokey eye and palpable confidence, her look was truly a highlight of the evening.
Anok Yai in Ferragamo
Maybe one of the best dressed of the evening, Anok Yai looked ethereal in a brown Ferragamo gown that highlighted why she is one of the models of our generation.
Sabrina Elba in Harris Reed
Sabrina Elbas red carpet looks always stun, and this years British Fashion Awards was no exception. She walked the carpet in a classic black gown designed by Harris Reed, paired with minimal jewelry and a pair of black heeled sandals. She finished the look with a sleek middle part and her gorgeous, red carpet ready smile.
Suki Waterhouse in H&M
In a move we don’t typically see for red carpet looks, Suki Waterhouse stunned in H&M. The red tulle gown paired with metallic red peep toe pumps was arguably this years most memorable look. Nestling her newly-announced baby bump, she was the talk of this years BFA red carpet.
Kristen McMeanamy in Giambattista Valli
Rounding out our best dressed list, Kristen McMenamy wore a stunning Giambattista Valli gown (that we’re pretty sure we’ve seen in our dreams). Paired with a beautiful silver statement necklace and messy-yet-done bun complete with a bang, Ms. McMenamy wins our award for most memorable ensemble of the evening.
